História

O Toto é um grupo de rock dos Estados Unidos formado em 1976 em Los Angeles por músicos veteranos de estúdio. A banda alcançou enorme sucesso comercial e conquistou vários prêmios ao longo de sua trajetória.

A banda foi criada em 1976 por David Paich, Jeff Porcaro, David Hungate, Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro e Bobby Kimball. O nome do grupo surgiu após David Hungate explicar que a palavra latina significava universal, combinando com a diversidade musical dos integrantes, que já haviam tocado em vários gêneros e gravações.

O grupo obteve grande destaque comercial e internacional entre os anos setenta e oitenta, tornando-se uma das eras mais marcantes com o lançamento do aclamado álbum Toto IV em 1982. Esse trabalho consagrou a banda com vários prêmios e incluiu faixas de grande repercussão, consolidando sua popularidade em uma ampla gama de ouvintes.

Ao longo dos anos, o Toto passou por diversas mudanças em sua formação, turnês internacionais, substituições de vocalistas e perdas trágicas, como a morte do baterista Jeff Porcaro. Mesmo assim, a banda continuou lançando materiais de estúdio, álbuns comemorativos e realizando turnês marcantes de aniversário.
