O Tears for Fears é um grupo britânico de pop rock formado em Bath em 1981 por Curt Smith e Roland Orzabal. Associados ao synth-pop da década de 1980, alcançaram sucesso global com álbuns aclamados e turnês.
O Tears for Fears surgiu em Bath no ano de 1981, criado por Roland Orzabal e Curt Smith após o fim da primeira banda de ambos, Graduate. Inicialmente associados ao movimento synth-pop dos anos 1980, integraram a chamada Segunda Invasão Britânica e conquistaram grande destaque nas paradas internacionais com seus primeiros lançamentos.
O álbum de estreia da dupla, The Hurting, lançado em 1983, chegou ao topo da parada britânica e foi seguido pelo estrondoso sucesso de Songs from the Big Chair, de 1985. Este segundo disco alcançou o primeiro lugar na Billboard 200 e revelou sucessos mundiais como Shout e Everybody Wants to Rule the World, consolidando a fama internacional do grupo.
Após o álbum The Seeds of Love, lançado em 1989, Orzabal e Smith enfrentaram uma separação em 1990, levando Orzabal a conduzir o projeto de forma solo por alguns anos. A dupla se reconciliou em 2000, voltando a lançar materiais inéditos e a realizar turnês regulares, culminando no lançamento do álbum The Tipping Point em 2022.
